English in China

I’m preparing for our vacation in June. Today I’ve been booking some hostels and flight tickets and I just got the funniest email I’ve read in a while. I post it here for your delight. Don’t miss the end of the email… is the best part! By the way, the guy in the emails mentions this cheating thing… actually I’ve booked three hostels today, and two of them mentioned it !!


Email sent by a Chinese hostel to confirm the reservation:

Hi, Elena Gasulla Tortajada:

We are warmly welcome you to the XXX House!
This is XXX who come from the XXX House, thanks a lot to book your room at the XXX House and your reservation XXX is good now. Please give me a call or email one day ahead at least to reconfirm your booking to let us know that you will be able to arrived on time. the other ways we will resell your room/bed to the others because there are only a few rooms in our culture house. The room cost you pay that it's already including the three Chinese meals a day, the clean bed and the Chinese Culture experience as well.
Please give me a call when you are arrived in Yangshuo and we will have the free pick up in the Yangshuo city, you can call XXX if you use the Yangshuo local telephone. you can get the local telephone in the most place as the small shop and even the cigarette store, you can pay for them after you use their telephone and the cost is about 0.50 –1.00 Yuan per each call.
Notice: One thing that I would like to mention you that there are some people will try to cheat you, they will say they come from the XXX House, but they are not . There are only four and half finger in my right hand. so please just give me a call yourself directly to me and we will have the free pick up in the Yangshuo city.

I guess, because of the Olympic Games and so on, there must be a xillion bookings and, with them, a xillion ways to try to cheat to foreign people...

Anyway, you'll tell us about it once you are there (take a lot of pictures if possible! :-)).
